Firebird
The music of Firebird is a unique blend of hard rock, jazz, and classical styles. Its influences range from Led Zeppelin and AC/DC to J. S. Bach and Bela Bartok. It expresses the contemporary convergence of historically distinct idioms through the fusion of electric sound, hard rock rhythms, rock inflected riff structures, operatic vocals, contrapuntal instrumental writing and the bedrock syntonal harmony of composer and lyricist, Dana Richardson. Band members Jacqueline Milena Thompson (vocals), Jonathan Jetter (electric guitar), Peter Fabrizio (electric guitar), Mark Lopeman (saxophone), Ray Cetta (electric bass) and Cesare Papetti (percussion) bring their virtuoso talent and deep training to the performance of this music.
Firebirds repertoire includes:
-
Bonds of Life- a hard rock invocation of desire with operatic vocals
-
In Your Heart- a cry of grief and passionate affirmation
-
Winter solstice 2- a jazzy contrapuntally driven instrumental
-
Succubus- an intense evocation of inner obsession
-
When You Went- a ballad of loss with soaring vocals and instrumental development
-
Lost Love- a jazz/rock instrumental that includes a three-part invention
-
Phoenix- an instrumental that alternates between rock and jazz sections.
